Folk Music - here in Glasgow

Since the early days of the Folk Music revival in the late 1950's, Glasgow has figured as a key centre. Folk music clubs abounded, and attracted "father-figures" like Ewan McColl and Bert Lloyd. Not only that, key traditional folk music performers stemmed from Glasgow, not to mention writers such as Matt McGinn and of course, Adam McNaughtan.

 

Many well-known folk artists have played Lauries, ranging from Glasgow man Archie Fisher to USA tradition carriers like Sheila Kay Adams with the late Jim Taylor.

 

Regular Scottish traditional folk music performers like Gordeanna McCulloch, Aileen Carr, Sylvia Barnes, and more eclectic celebrities like Michael Marra have made frequent appearancies
